Job opening software developer

We are looking for an experienced software engineer (0.6 to 1 f.t.e., can begin directly) to help develop the Libbit Document Generator.

What you offer:

  • Functions at or beyond the level of a tertiary education graduate;
  • Experience with larger software projected;
  • Finesse in the area of user interface and interaction;
  • A good grasp of JavaScript (jQuery), CSS and HTML, to build the above;
  • Thorough knowledge of PHP and XML (and perhaps XSL);
  • You are not deterred by situations necessitating a complex SQL query, or the manipulation of complex XML documents;
  • Experience with the manipultion of ODF and OOXML documents is a bonus;
  • Multiple years of demonstrable work experience relevant to this position.

Why are we looking for you?

Last year the Document Generator grew from a simple “proof-of-concept” into an ambitious, open-source web application with potential. Customers are already assembled at the gate, and there is a substantial wish-list filled with features and improvements. How should we scale up our software into a professional, popular, and user-friendly application? How do we combine custom features for customers with a stable and ready to deploy core version? You may not have all the answers just yet, but you do have a few good ideas about the underlying architecture, innovative user interfaces, accessibility, and …, and ….

What do we offer:

A dynamic, informal environment at a small, no-fuss company, and a chance to contribute to a free software project with thousands of users.

Feel free NOT to drop by if you:

  • feel that code that was hard to write, should be hard to understand.
  • are apprehensive about penguins on your laptop.
  • think that ASCII is good enough for everybody, and aren't to fussy about dotting your ë’s.
  • have never even heard of Unicode.
